A Prayer for Compassion

April 15, 2012

Today’s Reflection

IN YOUR COMPASSION, gracious God,
you hear the cry of the poor, the needy, and the lonely ones.
May we also hear the cries of our brothers and sisters,
responding in love as you have shown us in your Son,
our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Scripture Reading

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.
John 20:30-31, NRSV

Very often this is the hardest thing to hear – the cries of our brothers and sisters responding in love. Good disciple sow not knowing if or when they will see the results of their part of God’s plan. Sowing is our part, bringing the seed to life is God’s.

May all new Christians be strengthened in their new found faith, may their seed be the seed that fell on good soil and flourished.
