Freedom in Christ

Today’s Reflection

HIS [Christ's] IS A CALL THAT FREES. … The call is not an ending but a beginning. The birth of the baby invites us into a search. I think the simple truth that is being held out … is not so much a life lived as though all the answers were given, but a life lived as though all our answers are only gateways into deeper levels of answering, which in turn lead us into mystery where all answers give way to bended knee and adoration and praise.

While understanding more is always possible with God, at the moment I feel like I am on a plateau gathering strength for what lays ahead. We remembered, celebrated, and gave thanks for Christ’s coming long ago.
We give thanks for Christ being in us, for being reborn, marked by the Holy Spirit. Guide is Lord, you are the shepherd, we are the sheep. You are the vine, we are the branches.

In the still of the morning Lord I feel the peace of very little movement.Your peace is greater than this. There are so many places , so many hearts where your peace is needed, empower, encourage, use us to be instruments of your peace, that it is your peace that is in every human heart. In your name I pray, Amen.

God is using various relationships around me to show me behaviors that I disapprove of in others – yet are very evident in my life and my interactions. I am quick to notice how others comments with siblings or close loved ones are so sharp and harsh. Yet – when I pause to consider this more – I realize that this is how I sound. I am ashamed and ask God to change the very deep root in my heart…the one that seems to have always been there – having to have the last word, correcting others. Whew – it is ugly.

I understand this too, Jill.

You have blessed me this morning with your confession.

These two verses are becoming my song to myself and a banner under which I seek to live:

8 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will He instruct sinners in [His] way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way.

- Psalm 25:8-9

God is leading me to understand the process of aging and having patience and unconditional love for my elderly parents, both in their eighties.

May God grant us a double portion of his grace to walk along side the elderly at home and in our community.
