In Times of Financial Strain

Today’s Reflection

ALMIGHTY GOD,
I feel powerless about my financial situation.
Every month it seems unexpected expenses arise,
and I have to scramble to find money to cover them.

Thank you for providing for me thus far.
I’m grateful to have a jobb.
I just wish, Lord, that the money would stretch a little further.

Your word says that you love a cheerful giver.*
And the Lord’s Prayer tells us to ask for our daily bread.
Lord, is it wrong to ask for just a little more money
to cover all the bills, to give to the poor
and to my church, and to save for a rainy day?

Dear God, help me remember that it’s all your money.
Show me how to live more simply
in order to share what I can with those in need.
Help me always to trust your generous heart. Amen.

*See 2 Corinthians 9:7.

To live more simply – Father we could all examine our lives and find ways – allow You to show us those ways – in which we could alter our lifestyle and easily give more to Your kingdom.

Thank You for Your provision.

Often I wish I had more money so I could share it, use it, to help others even though a great deal of my monthly income goes to help people already.

Lord may our daily activities include helping people obtain the food and water they need, may we do what you ask to feed your people. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Lord,
I struggle daily to remember that all I have is Yours. Things do not dictate my life nor define my worth. I need to remember daily that my family and I are truly blessed with both the tangible and intangible things. We are to give to those less fortunate. Become “God with skin on”.
Amen

I needed this prayer today. I was driving saying how grateful and blessed I am to have my family, a job, a car, a home and then added the but… So forgive me Lord , but you did say to ask. Thank you for everything.

Lord, it is hard to continue to be unemployed and struggle so, with a house we can’t seem to sell. Please help us to remember that you will provide, and that we should not be anxious or afraid. Please ease our sleepless nights and provide opportunities to use our time wisely–helping others, generating income, praising You. Amen.
