Celebrating Differences

February 10, 2013

Today’s Reflection

Thick, thin, black, white—
You are beautiful
All different, but completely the same
Made in God’s image
Made by God, made like God
Sculpted by God’s miraculous hands
Tall, short, brunette, blonde—
None of it matters because we are
made in God’s image
made by God’s love
reflected not by our bodies
but by our hearts.

Lord I pray for those who don’t know you yet, for those who have glimpses, for those whose faith is starting to take hold. May everyone know you, trust you, believe in you and thank you for your faithfulness, grace and love. As Jesus said, “Without me you can do nothing, but with me you can do everything.” Especially I pray for Daryl, Logan, and Willa who don’t know you, and Jenny, Chris, and Erich who have had very big glimpses of you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Father God, thank you for creating different types of people in this world. Life is much more interesting and enriching because of it. Help us to include and love people who are different from us just as you do.
