The Touch of God’s Hand

April 5, 2013

Today’s Reflection

“EACH DAY, every moment,
you place your hand of blessing
upon the brow of creation.
In your touch, in your words,
everything flowers,
everything remembers
the deep, perfect loveliness within.
The deep, perfect loveliness of you.

On a day earlier this week when there were snow showers a pair of cardinals were feeding under the cedars. It was a beautiful sight, male and female, bright red and warm brown, contrasting with the snow.

Yes, Lord, I pray for all who are searching for you, for new believers, for those too busy to pray and for those who have strayed, lost faith, or have never believed. Its is very clear that we are all in great need of you.
I am very thankful that you are always there ready and waiting for us.

In the warmth of the sunshine yesterday (and the lack of wind helped…). We are desperate for spring – or so it seems. My three pathetic crocuses are hanging in there, under the mailbox.

For me, the question is better asked: “Where have you NOT seen God this week?” Of course I see God everywhere. I see God in beauty and in ugliness, in peace and in conflict, and in expressions of holy love for our brothers and sisters.

Just a few minutes ago saw a bright red cardinal flitting about in a tree behind the building where I work. So very pretty. I always see Him in the clouds, in the breezes that sway the trees and in the nighttime sky full of stars. Especially in the bluebonnets that grow so abundantly and are so pretty this time of year in Texas.

Lord, open our eyes so that we may always see your beauty in your creations every day.

One of my favorite times of the year is when the dogwoods bloom. They are just starting to unfold. They are a beautiful symbol to me of Spring, Easter and the risen Lord!

Father God, may all new believers continue to grow in their faith and also grow in their love for you. May there be good follow up and small groups where they can study your word and apply your truths.
