Following Jesus

Today’s Reflection

TO COMMIT TO FOLLOWING JESUS is to commit myself to a lifelong journey of being led where Jesus wants me to go and not necessarily where I want to go. This situation often causes opposition within myself. Jesus may call me to do what I do not normally and easily do. Jesus may ask me to wait or remain silent when I wish to speak or move on. In each of these cases I experience opposition within to what Jesus calls me to do and to be.

Today’s Question

Is Jesus calling you to do or say something that makes you uncomfortable? Share your thoughts.

Today’s Scripture

“So he set off and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him.

“Then the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'”

Luke 15:20-21, NRSV

Grateful for the joy of fellowship with friends at lunch.

Father God, I have no regrets following you. May I always follow you and be obedient.

Gracious, God may I hear Your voice today. Help me to know what You would have me do and strengthen me to do it. Guide and protect us and our loved ones. I am thankful we are always in Your care. Bless all who are called to be caregivers. May they find support and respite. Bless all who visit UR, those who comment, those who are silent, and those who create it. Wishing peaceful, restful, uplifting moments to all today, Sunday.

I don’t sense that God is asking me to do or say differently on this Sunday. I have experienced those times. Some of those times have been freeing for me. The secular world seems to embrace my obedience in speaking more readily than Christian family members or church leaders. So it does require a heart set on obedience.

Thankful that healing is happening for Anneliese and for Erich. Thankful for photos of Willa a school. Thankful today is Sunday and Heidi’s birthday.

Think I have been called to be a caregiver.

Hope you all have a blessed Sunday. Andrea, your words are very meaningful today.
