New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

ON THE PALM OF YOUR HAND you write my name, O God.
Through the pages of creation, my life unfolds.
In the chambers of your heart, I have a home, O God,
where every cry is heard, every tear seen,
every thanks
whispered in the dark or sung to the morning
is known to you.
And still, I am slow to thank, to ask, to trust.
O God, who is great and good,
help me to pray.
Amen.

Today’s Question

Pray today’s prayer. Share your thoughts.

Today’s Scripture

Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death– even death on a cross.

Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11, NRSV

O yes, Father, increase my trust. Lead me out of the dark, wipe away each tear, hold my hand. What comfort…”in the chambers of Your heart, I have a home.”
Yesterday, very late – we received a snow day. What a gift. I was able to get so much school work done, met with a friend to share and pray, got a bit of rest. I so very much needed it and feel much better about my school load. My friend – she, too – a gift from God. Her soft demeanor, her intentional listening, her abundant concern…all very much appreciated yesterday. At the end, she took hold of my hands and prayed with me. She accepts my tears of weariness, uncertainty and is content to allow them to come, and eventually, pass.
Today my family meets with the oncologist. I asked dad point blank last evening while mom was in another room if she was open to any form of treatment which might be shared today. He said – no. I am not in a good place with this. Her depression is surely hampering her ability to receive and process information. This all goes round and round my mind as I pray to God and try to seek His Will. I know He knows what lies ahead. I know He holds mom, dad, my sister and I. And that is where I must continue to come back to, and to ultimately rest.

Prayers for Gloria as she sees the oncologist today. Lord, Your will be done for You know what is best. We are asked to trust and today is an opportunity to do just that. Support for Jill, Larry, and Becky through this valley, Lord. You are very much needed. Thank You, Lord. You are always present.

My mother also suffered from depression throughout her entire life. I will pray your mother’s depression lifts so she can think more clearly and realize all that she has to live for, the people who love her, spring and summer on the way. I am grateful to hear you have good, supportive friends. Bless you, Jill.

Thankful for this day, a Lenten lunch before Palm Sunday, a good church meeting yesterday. Prayers for Anneliese, as best I know, still in the hospital.
Expect that there was ablation of her heart, possibly electric shock to restore normal rhythm, and from past experience possibly some difficulty with anesthesia. The last I knew she was doing “ok”. Thankful for health insurance, your prayers, the care and help of medical professionals, and the care of God Almighty.

    • Marcy Posted March 22, 2018 2:02 pm

Robert, so happy for your Lenten Lunches! They sound Spirit-filled and wonderful. You are always in my prayers as are Erich and Annaliese’s recovery. I am so tired, I just posted for Mark yesterday. He needed our encouragement and to join him in thankfulness. I’ve had days on and off with severe migraines and all that goes with them, so I could go no further. Blessings!

  • Lou Posted March 22, 2018 6:50 am

Prayers for Jill and her family – for Annelise and Robert as he is concerned about her – for Marcy and Julie struggling with pain and health issues. For my uncle who is in the hospital. Lord please place your healing hand on all who struggle with both physical and emotional pain.
Bless all who come here today looking for peace. Our trust and our one hope is in you Lord.

    • Mary Ng Shwu Ling Posted March 22, 2018 8:44 am

Lou, I am praying for your uncle, who is hospitalized, to be healed. I pray for healing for you and your children daily. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. We will overcome because we trust in God!

  • Julie Posted March 22, 2018 7:57 am

Yes Lord, may I not hesitate to thank You, ask You and trust You.
Prayers for Jill, Gloria, Larry, and Becky. May the oncologist be kind and encouraging. I am sure your mother’s concerns are something he or she has encountered and that the doctor will know how to respond in an encouraging manner.
Robert, I pray for you and Annaliese. I know the electric shock treatment can be hard on a person. My mother in law has had them.
Lou, prayers for you as you clean out your home. Prayers for your uncle.
Mary, prayers for you and your new job as well as your parents as each struggles with physical issues.
Blessings and prayers for and heartfelt thanks to each of my UR family members and each of their concerns shared or not
    Your best takes your time

  • Andrea Posted March 22, 2018 8:01 am

Prayers for Gloria as she grapples with huge decisions, and prayers for Jill, Larry and Becky. I pray Gloria comes to terms with her diagnosis and finds hope for living a quality life in the time ahead, as the doctor assured her is possible. My experience with oncologists and their staff, when my mother had cancer, was very positive. Everyone was so compassionate, taking the time to listen to my mother and answer her questions with great sensitivity. They were amazing at understanding the psychological aspect of dealing with cancer and they conveyed hope. Over the years she lived with cancer, we grew to feel like everyone at the oncology clinic was family. We so appreciated everyone who treated my mother so kindly. When they felt she no longer would benefit from treatment, they handled telling her so gently, with great care, and they assured her of continued support. My mother also benefited enormously from a monthly support group specifically for women with ovarian cancer. I pray Gloria moves through the process of accepting her diagnosis. Depression is a great distorter. It must be so difficult for you, Jill, and I pray you continue to find good support from friends and sufficient time to rest. Prayers for little Roger, who will give you the special kind of love that only pets can give.

Mary and her parents and new job, Robert, Erich, Anneliese, Lou and Lou’s children and mother, Marcy, Julie, Connie and Robin, Betsy and Grace and their brother, and all UR friends and visitors – prayers for you and your concerns.

Thank you for your prayers. My house is a new place inside and I am enjoying it. I appreciate the prayer support that fueled me. I ask for your continued prayers to maintain order and cleanliness. Also, I am seeing my siblings at a gathering on Saturday and ask for your prayers.

    Blessings.

Thank you Andrea for your prayers and sharing

May all be well with you

      Blessings

    • Marcy Posted March 22, 2018 2:14 pm

Andrea, you and Lowell, as well as your daughter, SIL and grandson remain in my prayers. I will definitely be praying for the upcoming meeting with your siblings and that the Holy Spirit be present.

I still am without insurance of any kind, but waiting now on some answers. My medications are running out and I’ve had inexplicable problems with SSI also. When it rain, it pours. There are new physical complications as well, but I soldier on. At this point all I can do is pray, which I do every day anyway. My prayers have become more urgent. Thank you for including me in your prayers.

  • Joan Posted March 22, 2018 8:31 am

Beautiful and touching. I love this book. I’m still missing Alive Now – yesterday poured through past issues looking for a prayer. Thank you for your meaningful ministry.

    • Marcy Posted March 22, 2018 2:15 pm

Joan, still miss Alive Now! too. Have a blessed day!

  • Connie Posted March 22, 2018 8:39 am

Thank you all for your prayers…..I am confused about “Robin”, though.
Glad Jill had a productive snow day. Praying for her family, especially her Mother today. Lord, give Lou strength as she prepares her house for sale. Oh, the memories. Prayers for Annaliese. Prayers for Mary, her family and her new position. Let everything be well. Julie, you are a blessing. There is more snow on the way here, but it will come and go fast I hope. The sun is so blindingly beautiful lately. Just like God’s love for each and every one of us.

      • Connie Posted March 23, 2018 8:50 am

        Love you, Marcy.

  • Marcy Posted March 22, 2018 2:27 pm

Thank you, UR family and friends, for your comments and encouragement. I am praying every day, some days all day, for others as well as myself. Severe migraines prevent me from seeing now, they are worse than ever. I’m still without insurance and have run out of important medications I can’t afford. Trouble with SSI, too. Apparently, my hospitization and stint in rehabilitation messed up my whole social safety net, including SNAP. I don’t see how this will resolve as of yet, but have FAITH WITHOUT SIGHT!

Please pray for me, family, for at least a few of these issues to be lifted from me. I’ve spent days under the covers in bed due to the migraines and am only able to take in broth and water. Thank you, Lord, for the two people taking turns coming here to help me. I love and miss you all being unable to post, trying to keep all this to myself. I pray God answers all your needs. Much Love from Marcy

    • Andrea Posted March 22, 2018 3:59 pm

Marcy, I will continue to lift you up in prayer every day and night. May your migraine discomfort lessen and abate, and may the insurance problem be resolved. May you get the food nourishment you require. It is terrible to know that the safety net has vanished for you. It is not right that that can happen. Is there a social worker available to help you, either in the community, your clinic, the rehab facility or hospital? Thank you for your faithful prayers. You are a blessing to us, dear friend.

  • robert moeller Posted March 22, 2018 6:33 pm

First, good news, Anneliese is home, “had ablation, not complete, new meds working.” Arthritis causing problems typing. Somehow I thought there was a Robin that went with Connie, if not, that’s my mistake. Today’s posts are many and there is a lot going on here. Thank You, Lord. Thankful for Andrea’s spring clean house. Prayers for Marcy and Julie, the health and well being issues they face, for Mary, here new job, thankful it is going well, her parents, Jill, and Becky as they support Gloria and Larry with their health. Prayers that Gloria will be lifted from her depression and enjoy the time the oncologist says she has, Prayers for Lou’s uncle in the hospital, for the challenges selling a house bring, for Mark mourning his brother, for Joan missing Alive Now. Lord, only You are able to help these and the many prayers of Your people. Thank You, Lord, with You we have refuge, safety, salvation and much more. God’s peace to all of you, thank you for your prayers, best wishes, support, and Christian love.
