New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

THIS VERSE (Daniel 10:19) has come to represent my entire theology as well as my life and healing journey. I repeat it daily, sometimes multiple times a day, using this form: Do not fear. Deeply loved. Be at peace.

Because it has three short phrases, each with three syllables, it makes the perfect mantra, listening focus, and/or calming technique. It’s great to use with prayer beads or as you go about your day. We do not have to be afraid because God is with us – ready to comfort us, sustain us, and carry us through the worst of times.

Today’s Scripture

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

Ephesians 4:4-6 51:12, NRSV

Thus is a great follow up to yesterday’s reflection. I believe today’s mantra.
In many ways it is more important than even the simplest blessing since it makes those, and any, blessings possible. Thank You, Lord.

Thankful for all of the prayers from the UR family. They too are powerful,
    helpful, and achieve a purpose.

Pearl, a Bombay- half Burmese and half American Short Hair, is a very adorable cat, Erich has some challenges with her as she is super attention seeking and he is the center of attention. Isis was an American Short Hair and more independent.

Every thing comes from God, so being thankful for food from the garden, a car that works, resources that enable life, and so on are very much appreciated. Glad that makes others happy.

Prayers for health, recovery from surgery, peace in tough situations, improvement in life, well being, fellowship with family and friends, the sharing of thoughts, prayers, joys, and concerns. You, the UR family, are lifted up and lifter uppers, what a joy that is.

Dental care, a reunion picnic with my high school class, and help for a member of the Central Vermont Railway Historical Society are on today’s agenda after a quick trip for some breadcrumbs in today’s meatloaf.

Do not fear. Deeply loved. Be at peace..

Grateful for another week’s work done. Tomorrow working to prepare for the new week. Grateful that two two students are well behaved and teachable. Trying to manage the chinese spelling with increased hours of tuition for primary 5 students.

Grateful for today’s mantra: Do not fear. Deeply loved. Be at peace.

    Noted it into my journal.

    Blessings

Started journaling on my tablet. It is much more convenient.

Grateful for the UR ministry and friends!

      Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

      Noted it onto my journal.

      Need to enlarge my text.

Love this mantra. It reminds me of a breath prayer, something that I often use when I begin my time with God. It begins with a statement of assurance and ends with God’s promise of grace and hope.
My brother, Bud, texted last night with the sad news that a dear friend of his had lost her battle with leukemia. She had a teenage daughter, so I pray for the family of this young lady as they grieve her mother’s death.

These three phrases are simple and beautiful. How I long for mom to be able to say them, believe them, cherish them, cling to them. Father – continue to work on her heart. That she would know there is nothing to fear in You. That You deeply, deeply love her and long to care for her. And You have so much peace to give her. Father, increase my trust in You and the possibility of change for my mom.
It’s like culture shock, in many ways, returning from time in the mountains. There is the physical aspect. And the emotional aspect, so good – time spent golfing with my dad yesterday morning and letting him express himself and how things have been while I was away. So difficult – seeing mom continue to be stuck. So overwhelming – meeting with my counselor and unpacking my time away and the three weeks since we last met. And so much filled with gratitude, the simplicity of being greeted by Roger – his face in my face and his following me around, his climbing into the recliner on me, wanting to be close.
Andrea – it was so good to be greeted with the news that you will be spending time with your daughter and grandson. May this be a blessing filled time.
Julie – I am praying for your recovery, that your finger will heal well and quickly.
It is good to be back among family here, the continued unfolding of our lives and the sharing and praying together.

Welcome back Jill. Sorry to hear of your mother’s continued suffering. Thank you for your prayers. Sorry, I confused your kitty, Roger, with Marcy’s. I don’t recall his name but it might also begin with R.

  • Julie Posted August 3, 2018 8:09 am

Do not fear. Deeply loved. Be at peace.
Noted in my journal as well. I feel as though I should write this a hundred times each day until I internalize its truth. As of now, I do not feel the truth of these words.
Prayers for Robert and his dental health as I recall that at one time there was a problem with his jaw. Prayers for Erich and Pearl. My kitties are very much companion animals and prefer to be close to us at all times. Tazzie will greet people at the door and will “help” anyone who comes to do any type of work. He has even pilfered nuts and bolts.
Prayers of thanks that Mary’s week of work is over. Prayers for rest this weekend. Prayers for her parents.
Prayers for Betsy and her brother. Prayers for the young girl who has lost her mother. May others fill the void and usher this child to adulthood.
Prayers for Marcy> May her pain be less. Prayers for Roger.
Prayers for Lou, Connie, Andrea, Gail, April, Jill and all their loved ones.
Prayers and blessings dear UR family and thank you for your prayers (you have no idea how they warm my heart and feed my soul)

    • Mary Ng Shwu Ling Posted August 3, 2018 9:16 am

      Thanks so much dear Julie!

So glad that you can still type. May you have a very speedy recovery!

      Blessings!

    Yes, Yes, Yes-a delightful Mantra.
And yes, “we are family, I have all my sisters (and brothers) and me”. I am an only child so I feel especially blessed.
    I am thankful for:
    Beautiful weather.
Two of my Forget-me-not seeds will bloom soon, I hope.
God watching over me and my husband.
Have a wonderful weekend, my Reflection Friends. May God meet your every need.

    A brief Hello,
This is a verse I often repeat. My version from the NRSV: “Do not fear, greatly beloved, you are safe. Be strong and courageous.”
Do not fear. Deeply loved. Be at peace.

I’m still in the grips of the migraine, which is worse than ever. I have prayed for each of you this morning. Thank you, dear siblings and friends, for your prayers. Thank you, Robert, Mary, Betsy, Jill, Julie, and Connie for your comments. Thanks to Andrea and Lou for yesterday’s comments. Praying for all who visit the UR Reflections; the Lord knows your needs. Praises to ourTriune God for each days blessings!

And these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is LOVE!

  • Mary Ng Shwu Ling Posted August 3, 2018 5:19 pm

May you have a speedy recovery dear Marcy!

    Blessings!

Thanks for praying for all of us despite your migraine!
