REST YOUR BODY in whatever way is best for you. Breathe a few slow, full breaths, then let your breathing become light and gentle. You may want to imagine an inward picture or to say a few words that help you feel God’s closeness.
When you feel ready, focus your thoughts on the biblical Jesus. Bring to mind a special story of an encounter with Jesus: Jesus’ laying healing hands on someone, blessing the children, walking by the lake with the disciples, calling forth Lazarus, waking up Jarius’s little girl, sailing on the lake, eating supper with his disciples, speaking to Mary in the garden, or any other story. Think about the story for a while, letting it become lovingly real for you.
Now think of or picture yourself as one of the persons in that story, perhaps the person being healed or spoken to or touched. Let yourself feel or think of Jesus’ direct personal attention; sense the direct gaze of his eyes. Remember he came not to condemn but to make us whole.
What are you experiencing about God that is clarified and intensified for you through this meeting with Jesus?

And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”
