Life in the Present

Today’s Reflection

“IF I DID NOT SIMPLY LIVE from one moment to the next, it would be impossible for me to keep my patience. I can see only the present, I forget the past, and I take good care not to think about the future. We get discouraged and feel despair because we brood about the past and future. It is such folly to pass one’s time fretting, instead of resting quietly on the heart of Jesus.”

I try to be very mindful of my thought patterns. God has been so gracious in this area. I call out to Him when my mind is taking me down the wrong path…”Lead me in Your righteousness”. If the struggle continues – I reach for an old hymn and sing it to myself.

Daily devotions keep me centered and my mind focused on things of God. I, also, love hymns. This weekend it was “There is a fountain filled with blood, drawn from Immanuel’s veins”. I need to be “plunged beneath that flood”.

The presence of God and praying constantly help me to focus and live in the present.

Thank you Father God for helping us to rest quietly in you and not fret because your presence is with us all the time and we can communicate constantly with you asking you to lead and guide us every step of our life journey.

“Resting quietly in the heart of Jesus.” What beautiful words. “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

Reflections like today keep me mindful and grounded. This is exactly what I needed today. Why do I let situations (past and future) destroy the joy for the present? I want to rest quietly on the heart of Jesus.

Blessings today to the UR family and may we all rest on the heart of Jesus.
