Empowered to Walk in the Light

Today’s Reflection

THE HOLY SPIRIT draws us into a shared life by empowering us to walk in the light. We cannot walk in the light by our strength only. How often, especially within the setting of the church, do we tend to give the impression that we are more honest, more caring, more virtuous than we really are.

In theory we may be willing to see the value of being open, honest, and transparent; but we seldom find it easy to put this theory into practice. Somehow it is easier to pretend to look good than to be good, to pretend to love than to love, to appear to be holy than to be holy. Rather than living in the power of the Spirit we become imposters of the Spirit.

A quick test: When did you last honestly share a weakness, sin, or struggle with a sibling in the faith?

Thankful for a restful day yesterday. It was a day of an easy agenda.

Prayers for people in mourning, remembering my friend, Doug. Hoping for a good house inspection report and progress toward the sale of the house. Prayers that medical insurance will cover treatment and transportation to pain management can be found. Thankful Erich begins work on Monday.

Prayers for help with breathing, legs, and knees. Lord, Your healing is the best, You know us better than anyone. Thank You, Lord for Your love and care.

Blessings to all who come to the UR, gathered in Jesus’ name, He is here.

I long for opportunities to have these authentic conversations with other sojourners. The conversation that I mentioned yesterday was just that…the lady I carpooled with to tennis. I spoke openly about my decision to leave the church I had attended for so long, my uncertainties about the church I am currently at, and my reasons for remaining there. To be heard, with an intention to understand – so powerful in a conversation. To name an area where prayer is needed, to offer this to another as well.
Father – remove pretension from my outward actions and conversations. Assist me to be truthful to You, to where You lead, to whom You bring to my path.
Grateful for quietness this morning, for sleeping in and sunlight as I awakened. Grateful for the beginning of summer. Many tasks to get accomplished today. Grateful for the time to do it. Time – what a wonderful resource.

I feel that we share our spiritual struggles and shortcomings in this forum of fellow believers. I also feel that I have been supported in my spiritual development and you have provided many insihts and words of both wisdom and encouragement. Thank you all for your faith and your heartfelt words.
Wasn’t able to access yesterday’s comments, this happens to me periodically. The link takes me to the previpus day’s comment section for some reason.
Blessings and another thank you for all of our little community. May it continue to grow and may everyone find love, acceptance and support here.

Yes, Julie, there is support and fellowship here. I too have the computer-internet problem you mention. Sometimes I am able to resolve it by going to the bottom of the post and clicking on the next day’s or previous day’s post.
    Hope that is helpful.
