New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

GRANT ME the ability to be alone;
may it be my custom to go
outdoors each day
among trees and grass—
among all growing things—
and there may I be alone,
and enter into prayer,
to talk with the One
to whom I belong.

Father – I thank You for Your Presence – with us always, everywhere – if we but turn to You. The comfort of Your Spirit – so assuring.
Indeed, Father, I thank You for the joy and pleasure we receive from our furry friends…Isis, Tazzie, Gus, Marcy’s cat’s name is escaping me at this early hour…is it Lucy? Father – thank You for the love we give and receive from these animals. I sure love my little guy.
Mom called yesterday afternoon from the doctor’s office. She had dad in there for chills and a fever of 102. Thankfully it is not the dreaded flu that is so rampant in my area. But, rather, it is a bladder infection. He has not been as patient and restful as he has needed to be during his recovery and I am afraid this is the result. They were able to get home during rush hour, with the prescription and he was in bed, asleep at 6:00 when I last spoke with mom. My sister and I spoke quite a bit about how we are going to address this. Mom’s tests/procedure are less than 2 weeks away and he is going to need to be as close to full strength as possible. So hard to have to be “the parent” to a parent. We need to be careful not to intrude on their independence and yet – we feel that we must be a bit more insistent. Father – please provide us with wisdom, discernment and the right words cloaked (and received) in love.

Praying with the UR family, but also alone on my walks. Very thankful for both opportunities. Different settings, in the early morning hours on the computer in my room or out in nature with tree, grass, mountains, and the sky.

Most certainly prayers for your parents, Jill, and also how you and your sister with God’s guidance will care for them. Am very sure both of you will do well.
Thankfully your parents have ability to do many things for themselves.

Prayers for all the animals we call pets. They are really an integral part of the family and when something happens to them we feel it deeply.

Thankful for the resources to have car repairs done. Hopefully we’ll be able to take Isis to the vet today, if not we have a Wednesday appointment. She was more herself last night. She is getting a lot of attention.

Progress too on my model. The roof is assembled and has all of the detail parts installed.

Prayers for the athletes and spectators at the Olympics.May it be a peaceful games with lots of positive news.

Thankful that the US has long term funding after a very brief shutdown.
May relief for the disaster stricken areas make a big difference. Many people have suffered for some time.

Thankful for all of you, the UR, and the fellowship we share here. Peace be with you.Thank You, Lord.

My alone time with God is precious. Today I woke to a beautiful sunrise; the reds, oranges and yellows in the sky were a masterpiece of God’s creation. Thank you for showing me this today.

Thankful for a weekend visit with friends who are coming in tonight. These are early church friends in our lives, and we have stayed close through moves and job changes. It will be good to laugh and catch up.

Praying for a calm, quiet weather weekend for all. Maybe we can all do as the devotion says and go out and observe nature for even a short while. Blessings.

Nature is off limits for me until the weather warms considerably. I must limit my time outside period to preserve my fingers.
Prayers for all pets. They are members of our families. The most loving and accepting members.
Blessings and prayers for all of the UR posters and the concerns they have shared.

    Oh boy, Winter in Illinois!
Jill, one time I asked my Mother is she thought I was too bossy. She replied “Well, you ARE insistent”
I am petless at this time. Over the years I have had 2 dogs, 2 cats, a horse, rabbits, white mice, chameleons, you name it! I do miss having a cat, though.
Have a great weekend, friends, and God bless you all.

Winter in Illinois, indeed! At least we have a snow day today. Have a little more time to reflect during devotionals. Lord, I pray for healing for my student Samaria, who’s been sick all week. I pray for all posters, pray -ers, encourages, and readers on this blessed site. Have missed Marcy’s posts and praying all is progressing well with her.
Thank you UR friends for your prayers.

Prayers for all those affected by the winter storm, for their safety, warm clothing, heated shelter, and adequate food and water. Prayers too for single parents, may they be strong with the help of God and friends and family, and may their needs be met. I lift Marcy up in prayer, may she gain strength and be supported in those areas in which she needs help, including having a regular connection to the internet.

Prayers for my Sri Lankan friend, Kumar, and for his tourism business.

My daughter and I ended up being unable to meet for breakfast yesterday. I pray for guidance in how best to support her and I give thanks for the new ease between us.

May you all stay warm and safe. God holds each of us in Everlasting Arms. May we rest there confident in God’s faithfulness and providence.

Prayers for people with pets, Samaria – Francesca’s student, Kumar – Andrea’s Sri Lankan friend, Andrea and her daughter, and insistent Connie -there are times that is a very valuable trait.

While car repairs went well, a new problem was discovered, a solution is being worked on.

Isis has tumors and fluid in her lungs, meds will provide some help, but she won’t be with us long. Thankfully she is still active, herself, at the moment. She’s a hospice patient getting a lot of attention. She’s taking her meds and eating well. It was a tough day at the vet’s office.

Still there were blessings. We enjoyed a wonderful chicken udon noodle soup, my college hockey team won, and there was progress before the vet visit on my model – the roof is done.

Anneliese will see a cardiologist on the 19th and most likely have heart ablation to resolve the palpitations she is having.

Prayers for Marcy’s health, finances, housing, and internet connection. Prayers for Rusty and K, Louise, all who we haven’t heard from, and single parents.

Thankful for the blessings of the day.
