New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

HOLY WEEK can be a hard week. Jesus moves toward inevitable crucifixion. Those around him allow rage and cowardice to consume them. Friday brings sadness beyond measure. . . .

Holy Week only works, however, if we put ourselves in the thick of it, which involves more than a grim determination to face the worst. It requires courage born of the knowledge that God’s sovereign grace surrounds this week and our lives within this week.

The church I am now attending is having a Maundy Thursday service in the evening and also a service Friday evening. The church I grew up in used to have a Maundy Thursday service. I am hoping to attend both as well as Easter morning.
Again – I appreciate your thoughts, encouraging words and prayers. Julie – I will see if I can find that clip from CBS Sunday on line. We are meeting with the oncologist again this Friday at noon. Then, I believe – we must arrive at a decision on treatment…within the next few days.
Betsy – I imagine your great excitement towards spending time with your children. Enjoy! Andrea – what a blessing you will be to your relative from Norway. Lou – I pray continued blessings as you spend precious time with your children.

Yes, Holy Week is a tough week. I am reminded of the sins Jesus died for to save me. The payment for sin is death. Thankful that Jesus committed to and accomplished a task which I can not do. Otherwise I am lost.

Lenten lunch, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services, and sunrise and Easter services are on my Holy Week plan.

Thankful for the students and their supporters who protested the inaction of government on gun control. I support changes to make all of us safer.

Prayers for God’s wisdom to Gloria, Larry, Jill and Becky on this Friday. Lots to think about and decide upon. Thankful for a relative from Norway visiting Andrea. Blessings that Betsy can see her relatives. Thankful for Mary’s better job, new tenants, and the well being of her family. Prayers of comfort and peace for Julie. Lord guide her decisions. Prayers for Marcy’s health, insurance, means of living, and over all well being. Thankful for Lou and her commitment to her children.

Guide us Lord as we prepare for the Passover meal that becomes Communion.
Help us to stay with You and declare You the Messiah.

My Holy Week usually consists of services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, but because we are traveling I’ll miss those here at home. I will carry the sacrifices of Jesus and the symbolism of these important days in my heart. Easter Sunday will be with my children in my son’s home church. I am so blessed by Christ’s resurrection!
Jill, I continue to pray for your mom as the appointment with the oncologist comes on Friday. May God’s peace and calm surround you all. Lou, you have such thoughtful neighbors! Continued prayers for your sweet family. Andrea, so happy you are getting an unexpected visit from a distant relative. That will make this Easter time special. Julie, I so look forward to your daily quotes. Thank you for those.
I continue to lift up all those affected by gun violence and pray that God sustains those young people who are speaking up for gun safety. So proud of their efforts!

I am considering going to a church on Sunday. This would be a huge step for me as I have not been in a church in years. I have bad memories from last church and I am sure the people there would be surprised by this. I just remember never feeling as though I truly belonged or was welcome. I do not know which church to attend. I would like to attend the one I watch on tv, but it is large and about 30 minutes away.
Prayers for Lou and her daughter and Betsy and her husband as they travel. Prayers for Lou’s son’s job. Prayers for Andrea and her relative visiting from Norway.
Prayers for Robert and Erich. Prayers for Jill and her parents. I pray for guidance nd insight as they speak with the oncologists.
Prayers for Mary and her parents and niece.
Blessings and prayers for and thanks to all of my UR family

Very grateful to everyone who uplifts my family and i in prayer each day.

Praying for others is also reflecting God’s love and care.

Evening time, just checking in with my UR family. Many concerns, many prayers, how blessed we are to have each other in our family. May we each know that our names are written on the palm of God’s hand…so that we may know that we may hum this tune….
Sleep my child and peace attend thee, All through the night.
Guardian angels God will send thee All through the night…..
