New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

EASTER SUNDAY was never our final destination during Lent. Easter Sunday is a triumph, yes, but it serves as an inspirational staging area for what comes next. If we leave the church as confirmed Eighth-Day believers, then what we’re really doing is signing up to join Jesus in the re-creation business.

God is up to something significant, and we get to participate. …

So today … is the perfect opportunity to begin seeing ourselves as Eighth-Day believers – followers of Jesus who are empowered by the living presence of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise we don’t have a prayer of accomplishing any part of the amazing future that Easter Sunday makes possible.

We’re no longer spectators. We’re now participants in the new creation. If our journey through Lent together has prepared us for anything, then I pray it has prepared us for this.
