New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

OUR LIVES will no doubt be interrupted today. These interruptions may be trivial or they may be life-shaking. Yes, our lives are filled with interruptions, but our lives are also filled with God. And even in the midst of interruptions, God meets us and brings us peace and joy.

Peace and joy.

Jesus also brings peace and joy to our interrupted lives. Jesus knows sorrow and pain because he has experienced both, but more importantly, he knows you and me. …

PRAYER: Jesus, you spoke Mary’s name to announce your resurrection from the dead. Remind us that you know our names as well. In moments of darkness and weeping, interrupt us with the message that you are alive. Your resurrection means life for us, so we go to interrupt the world with the story of your love and light. Amen.

Father – I ask You to interrupt mom’s fearful thoughts, break through and soften her heart, bring calm to the disorder. You know her name, You cherish her – may she have an increasing sense of this truth.
Father – be with Julie as she endures attacks from her housemate. I ask for Your calm and order in her heart and mind and relief from this external stress.
I have been praying Psalm 23 over my mom this week – that she will sense the green pastures and the still waters. Despite the long shadows of the valley of death – His Presence will be a comfort. I extend this prayer to all in need of it here in the UR family.
May the joy of our Lord be our strength…from the minutia to the gargantuan. Father – You hold us all.

    Blessings to all,
The author talks about interruptions in our lives. I wish to share some with you. Within these past two years, I have had an Epiphany of finally discovering what is the most important thing I want to do with my life… to continue the resurrection story that Mark has left for us to fill in. For me, it is to glorify God each and every day.
There are many ways to do this of course, like with prayer, reading his Holy word and sharing a witness story with someone. I always love spending time thinking about and talking to God everyday. I have been so blessed in my life to have received his light of mercy, love and grace many times. I will gladly share (witness) three of my most life changing events (interruptions) with you. As a recovering Alcoholic, I came to know Jesus’s love, mercy and grace everyday since I became sober 32 years ago. Talk about saving someone’s life! Or when I was diagnosed with bladder cancer 11 years ago and lung cancer 6 years ago. Quarterly and annual tests monitor these areas in my body and by the grace of God I’m still cancer free after the surgeries removed them. Jesus has allowed me to live so far a full and very blessed life. I’m 61 and a retired US Navy Veteran of 20 years who lives in a suburb of Milwaukee, WI.
I get to thank God everyday and glorify His name (my resurrection continuing purpose) when I do acts of kindness and share with others the blessings of hope, love and finding peace. When I let his light shine in my life, others see it or sense it and God is glorified. I cannot find no greater joy!
    Prayers in love for all.
    Keeping Faith alive,
    Ken
