New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

AS YOU SEEK to follow the way of Jesus, I invite you to try a simple exercise this week. Every morning when you wake up, as soon as your feet hit the floor, say this prayer: “Jesus what would you have me do today?”

Today’s Question

As you begin your day, pray this prayer: “Jesus, what would you have me do today?” Share your thoughts.

Today’s Scripture

When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

John 20:19, NRSV

This Week: Give thanks for the Risen Lord. Submit your prayer to The Upper Room Living Prayer Center or share it in the comment section.

Thankful for the risen Lord, doing what Jesus would have me do should be a daily task.

Prayers for Julie’s hands and foot and her safety, for Marcy’s health and well being, for Gloria, Larry, Jill and Becky and the upcoming treatment, for Andrea, Lowell, and their visiting relative, for Connie, Betsy, Lou, Louise, Francesca, Joan, Ken, Mark, and all the UR family. God is with you.

Thankful Anneliese seems to be doing better, house maintenance being done.
Snow here yesterday and it seems windy outside now. Thankful for food shopping, job hunting, and bills paid. Church tomorrow.

Thank you for the prayers for all- glad you are safely home after a family visit that I hope was happy for you-
Praise God for your dedication to this site and your constant support, love, prayers for all who come here. I went back and was looking at posts from 2012 and there you were- Connie as well and likely others who are still posting and supporting this community today. Thank you –

Thank you for your kind words. I found this site after moving to Glens Falls in 2012 to help my sister with our Mom. My Dad was a long time reader of the print version of the Upper Room.

Thankful you have found a new house, know that it isn’t bought yet, hope all goes well, it will be a big help in more ways than one.

Yes, I have posted here for a long time, and enjoyed every day of fellowship. I remember Heidi, Penny, Gary……I will have to revisit the archives again-haven’t done that lately. Thanks Lou. Hope you find the perfect house for you and your family.

Moses was tired and sat on a rock and two friends held up his arms , one on one side and one on the other, so he could continue. (Today’s UR Devotional)
Isn’t that how it is here? We hold each other up!
          Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you, Robert. God bless you, Erich and Anneliese.

I pray that God will guide me and lead me to do what I should do everyday.
I pray especially for God to guide me in my house quest today as I make an offer on a house – all of these things feel so monumental – but I remind myself that it is just four walls and God will provide for my needs and the needs of my family- I forge ahead – sometimes flying by the seat of my pants it feels… but I lean into God and I pray that He will lead me and guide me in both the mundane tasks and most importantly in my spiritual life – help us Lord – we need you.
    Every hour we need thee…
Prayers for all the UR faithful- especially for Connie and her health- for Julie and her pain- physical and emotional – for Marcy who we keep close in our hearts – for Jill and her parents- for Robert who is concerned about Annelise and for all who I have not named but who I pray for daily.
    Peace to all today.

Yes, Lord, lead me and may my life be yours in service to your cause. Give me stength to do your will and your will only.
Thank you all for your prayers. Thank you especially to Pam for your generous offer. I have much to think about. This is all so new to me. I have never had anyone express support or compassion.
Prayers for Robert, Erich, and Annaliese. I echo Lou’s words, Robert, you are so thoughtful and such an example of true faith. I read your posts each day and learn so much about faith, steadfast love, and calm perseverance. I even learn about trains and patience and hard work.
Lou, I remember taking similar steps with similar feelings after my divorce. You are strong and capable and this will give you the faith in yourself that will carry you through the future. God bless you.
Prayers for all who come here and share joys and sorrows. Prayers for those who come and do not share. Prayers for those who have stopped coming to this warm home, we miss you and wish you well being…

Thanks. I like this, Julie, and I am trying to “live” forward. You are doing well this Saturday, I hope.

    • robert moeller Posted April 8, 2018 3:56 am

Thanks for support from Julie and Andrea. Yes, this is a site where we are all safe, can express our thoughts, concerns without worry. God’s peace is certainly here.

Appreciate the Kierkegaard quote. It is true. Thankfully we have God to help us move forward. Prayers for your safety Julie, ask for God’s wisdom and you will be able to make good decisions.

Andrea, my daughter has two very bright girls and very busy career as a theatrical costume designer, but has help that makes doing both raising them and doing her work possible. I most certainly appreciate your concern for both your daughter and your grandson. I think every generation has things that a previous generation finds difficult. The times, they are a changing.
I have to let my daughter and her husband raise their children. I know that they love them dearly and have their best interest at heart.

Am up early since Pearl is on one of her early morning wanderings. She’s been fed, played with, and petted. I think she may be going back to sleep.

I put my comment on a “reply” link, but that’s o.k.

Julie, may all be well with you.

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I love these short, pithy reflections.

I echo the gratitude expressed to Robert for his faithful comments demonstrating his faith and prayer life.

I ask for continued prayers for my daughter, who struggles with parenting a very bright 3 y.o. Our relationship is difficult, she is very critical and impatient toward me, and, I believe, has stored up anger. I just pray for guidance in how best to support her and build resilience in my precious grandson. Her coping resources are at times very thin. Yet she is a caring, devoted, loving mother…to the point of being almost smothering, as I see it…and with some ideas that are very strange to me and my generation, and which concern me. I give no advice unless asked. I wake up most nights and worry for hours. I pray. I pray for strength and guidance for all parents who have difficult children of all ages.

I am here because I appreciate gathering and praying with this circle of prayer warriors, whom I feel I know in spirit. It is a safe place to express prayer concerns. I feel the caring we have here and strongly believe I am uplifted by your prayers. I am inspired by all of you. I am grateful.

Jesus stands by each one of us in our challenges and fears, saying “Peace be with you.”

    • Mary Ng Shwu Ling Posted April 7, 2018 8:40 pm

Andrea, keeping you and your family in prayer.

May God be our ever present help and guide,

      Blessings
