New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

WHEN WE THINK of changing the world, we feel unequipped, overwhelmed. We say, How could I possibly change the world? How would I even begin? Begin by changing someone’s life in your own hometown, church, or family.

Recently I received a gift — an unexpected gift I will forever treasure. After our recent mother-daughter banquet at the church I was visiting with the speaker, who is an author. She handed me one of her books, explaining it was a gift from one of the ladies who attended. The message was simple: thank you for all you did to put together this event. Every time I open that book, I thank God for the lady who purchased it and gave it to me. I was blessed by the gift, and I know that God has blessed the giver tenfold.

Start to change the world by giving a gift to someone today. Buy a cup of coffee, carry groceries, babysit the kids, send flowers or a card, or make dinner. Whatever you can give will bless the recipient, and he or she will want to share that joy with someone else. When you touch the hearts of those around you, God can use those little things to change the world.

Prayer:
Loving God, let me never consider any gesture or gift too small or simple but remember that each and every act of kindness can be used to further your kingdom. Amen.

Gratitude can be such a gift. Sincere, not overdone – it can be quite touching. I try to be aware of having a grateful spirit, throughout the day, quietly acknowledging simple blessings – to others, as well as God.
I am grateful for very functional hands for the activities of yesterday. So much so, in fact – I was not even aware of them – a simple blessing. Last week at this time, I was quite swollen and stiff and my left shoulder has become impacted. But a bit closer attention to diet, coupled with my treatment on Friday brought sweet relief. I have a prescription for a brief stint of prednisone – which I am going to begin today, as I still have swelling in one finger that the doctor wants to get under control.
Grateful, too, for the sermon yesterday – the lead up to Daniel in the lions’ den. What an interesting perspective, with much to mull over. More than just the young kids Sunday school version.
Grateful for this purring machine on my lap, who is licking my chin. Good morning, to you, Bubbies. And good morning to this UR faithful, from both of us. May God meet your needs today.

Jill, wishing you a speedy recovery!

Yes, recently, i gave a student a pencil case as he showed me progress in his results. It motivates him to work even harder.

Blessings to all and have a great week ahead!

Thankful for a good Sunday, good meals, a nap, and a walk. From the UR I am most thankful for the many posts from you with prayers for the needs and concerns of others. They are the gifts mentioned in today’s reflection. It has been harder for me to respond as I’d like since the system that used to send responses during the day no longer seems to be working. Change on my part is needed.

Jill, glad you are gaining relief with your hands and shoulder, and that there is medicine that will help. Prayers you had a restful weekend.

When my daughter and I attended the Renaissance Festival, there were many steep hills, one of which was in front of the food stands. A man noticed me having difficulty walking down the hill and took my arm and assisted me. I was very surprised and thankful.
I am also thankful for this site of giving people. You feely give sage advice and prayer.
Prayers for Jill and her swollen finger. May the medicine help and do no harm. Prayers for Gloria, may she go to the counselor.
Prayers for Mary and her gift of teaching. Prayers that her unique God given gift is noticed and appreciated by the administation of her school.
Prayers for Robert and Erich as they continue to plan their move. Robert, have you tried re-signing up for the emails.
Prayers for Marcy. Prayers that her pain abates today. So the day Tazzie insisted that I move my keyboard so he could sit on my lap, as soon as I finished typing, he jumped off and went to the heated blanket. So apparently it was the priciple of the matter. How dare someting else occupy his lap!
Prayers dear UR family and wonderful thoughts for a wonderful week

Finally did what I’ve wanted to do and hopefully give a more personal reply to posts from the last few days. Only God can address these all best, but I’ll give it a try.

Thanks so much for all the names we call our cats, yes, their official names aren’t used so often. Erich’s cat, Pearl is more often called Kutzer, but during the course of the day may be called other names as well. It’s a winder our cats know who they are!

Prayers for Jill, Gloria, Larry, and Becky and the challenges that cancer has placed before them. Hope the psychologist helps.
Prayers for Julie, her hands and foot, job search, and day to day wellbeing.
May your daughter find a job that works best for both of you.
Julie, you don’t “type into a vacuum.”
Prayers for Marcy, her new symptoms, help from the pastor, and the neurologist appointment. Prayers for relief from migraines, better breathing, sound health insurance, and a means of support.
Welcome Darr Sigilman, this is a place where no one complains about disagreement, that means we agree to disagree, but more often find agreement and unity.
Prayers for Betsy, her prison ministry, trip “back home”, family and friends.
Prayers for Connie, your posts are very spirit filled with hymn names or lyrics, nature sightings, and experiences.
Prayers for Mary, her sister, Molly, her Mum and Dad, the school where she teaches and does a lot of administrative work. Prayers for strength, endurance, and patience.
Prayers for Lou, the college mom prayers turned to mom prayers. What a wonderful fellowship.

Today is a less busy day, have some things to do, but no big trips. Cooler weather, had to turn on the heat for a bit. It will warm up outside, another walk today. The railroad historical society convention comes this weekend.

Blessings to all of the UR family as a new week starts. Thank You, Lord
