New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

THE LIFE OF PRAYER includes review as well as anticipation. Evening prayer provides the opportunity to look back upon the day you have lived, rejoice in those things you have done well, repent of any sins you’ve committed, and resolve that, by the grace of God, you will continue to live as God’s beloved child.

Today’s Scripture

For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy of the true one, but he entered into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

Father God – thank You for the blessing of hearing from Marcy – for assistance that will be entering her home. Father, yes, we are always in Your sure hands. Sustain her in faith, hope and love.
I am not consistent with evening prayer. It seems once I eat dinner, my concentration level is done for the evening. I go to bed very early, often without a sustained prayer. Previously I have made an effort – but have not been persistent with it. Always room to improve and grow.
Father – like a shepherd, lead us.

I know of evening prayer, have done it, but am not very consistent. It’s an area where need to improve. God provides blessings every day.

Thankful to read two days of Marcy’s posts, so glad of the news that help is coming and progress is being made. Thank You, Lord. Take your time, you have plenty on your plate. I’m just delighted to read your posts and hear from you again.

Prayers for Julie, her hands and foot, job search, home situation, and daughter’s job search. Prayers to for Pittsburgh and a restoration of peace and security. Thankful for the example set by Pittsburgh residents through their ordeal.

Blessings to Betsy and Kairos and the wonderful ministry for women accomplished there.

Continued prayers for Jill, Gloria, Larry, and Becky. Thankful Gloria has such an active life

Wonderful that Mary and Lou are doing well. Prayers for Lou’s daughter as she searches for a college.

Not sure how to respond to yesterday’s election results. I certainly hope that God’s wisdom came to all and helped guide us to the result we have.

Hopefully today a recipe that has not been made in some time will be made successfully and a memory will be come reality again.

Prayers that we all find our place in God’s lap and follow God’s direction.

It seems as if many of us are “morning people”. I too am often too tired and scattered to reflect much on my day, but I do reflect and pray short prayers throughout the day. My devotional journal offers me an opportunity to write my reflections from the day before. I definitely see the importance of reflecting on each day and see the blessings.

I’m so glad to see Marcy back online! Happy that you now have someone to help you out (Mary) when you need her. We have missed your insights and quotes! Praying you continue to improve, Marcy, and know that we are your supporters. The election is over, and we now are called to pray for those elected officials. May they seek wisdom from you, Lord, in all they do.

Glad to see others are weary in the evening hours. I don’t do well with nighttime prayers but try to be thankful as I drift off to sleep for all the blessings of the day.
    Thankful for:
The elections are over! The phone calls are less!
Getting my husband to the lab for his lab work.
Getting out to vote-no lines. We used to go together, but he voted early. I remember a sunny day we walked hand in hand to the polling place. It was only a block away that year.
Covered remaining plants-must let them go soon.
Leaf removal (many) soon, I hope. I used to do the raking.
News from Marcy-I haven’t gone back to yesterday’s yet.

What a joy to see Marcy’s posts!! Praise God she now has assistance in her home!! Marcy, you have been present here every day even when you have not been able to post, you are so integral.
I too am so moved you were able to vote. Bless you for your courage and persistence.

I fall asleep with prayer and wake up with prayer. If I awaken at night, I pray. During the day, I turn frequently to inwardly reciting my Lectio Divina passage. What I need to do is sit down in a chair each day in a more planned, designated time for prayer.

Blessings and prayers, my dear UR friends.

Although I am a morning person, I make it a point each night to pray one last prayer as I lie in bed. Have had to fight to remain awake at times, so I understand the difficulty.
Prayers of thanksgiving that Marcy is posting again. Please know dear Marcy that I have included you daily in my prayers both here and when I pray throughout the day. One of me evening prayers is for you, including for a good night’s sleep since the last you posted you spoke of insomnia. So wonderful that you have help and will receive more. Glad Lucy eluded serious illness. Today Tazzie is especially needy. He decided that I was to pay attention to him rather than do my strengthing exercises. He head butted me as I did situps and then climbed on his tree and cried and patted my arm with his paw as I did my stability move (the yoga pose of tree). He was most insistent.
Prayers for Mary and her tone of joy and thanksgiving.
Prayers for Jill and her family and continued good health both physical and eemotional.
Prayers for Robert and his cooking. May he be successful and relish not only the food but also the memories it evokes.
Prayers for Betsy and her family and future family member.
Prayers for Connie and her husband and their loving relationship.
Prayers for Lou and her children. May God guide her youngest to the college at whhich she will flourish and grow.
Prayers for Andrea and her family, may they strengthen their relationships with kind and compassionate words.
Prayers for all of the newly elected officials. May they seek God’s guidance throughout their tenures.
Prayers for all of the dear UR family

The day is almost over and great to reflect on it and read the posts from today. I rejoice with all at hearing from Marcy and learning that help will be coming to her!!
I thank God that we are in the right place and time to help our neighbors. Our family is all outstate…but those here are our “new” family…and I am reminded that we are all members in the family of God.
I work in a multi-generational profession…as I am retiring, others will move up to lead…I pray that I have been a positive influence as they move into positions leadership….the circle of life.
Prayer is an important part of my life and I begin and end the day “talking” to God by reciting Bible verses or Psalms….The Lord is my Shephard is a favorite.
Wishing you all God’s blessings during the night and until we meet again.

  • Darr Sigilman Posted November 8, 2018 6:37 pm

I just wish I had someone who could be there for me and pray with me and for me. Someone to share my thoughts with every day. I realize that since I have grown into adulthood that is impossible but I would like to have close friends to talk to about my problems. The more I look at the church web sites and get other people’s take on the subject of religion it just intensifies my desire to find A church to go to where I can find people who love and care about me and people I can love and care about like family. I don’t have have any children of my own but I would like to move into A white area where there are A lot of neglected and locked out white children who need someone and I could take care of them and be there for them and when these children grow up some of them at least would take care of me when I grow old. And also like to find A church family.
