New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

AS YOU GO through the day, let particular moments bring deep awareness of God and life. I usually find these moments come as invitations and, although many of them get lost in my busyness, the fruit of taking time to respond far outweighs the small investment of time.

Let me describe some God moments from today. While driving to work I noticed a group of pelicans sitting on a weir in a small river, drying their wings in the morning sun. I allowed the moment and its beauty to touch me, to speak to the deep places within me. During the morning as I worked in the church office, I experienced two interruptions. First came a young woman from a meeting in the room next door. It was a brief conversation, but she suddenly, quite spontaneously, came over, kissed me on the cheek, and then left. It felt like a gift to be treasured for a few moments.

Around lunchtime someone went into the church to practice for a piano recital. Beautiful music flowed throughout the building, and I was moved to pause and allow it to touch me. On some days I perceive many such moments at other times I am capable of missing them all! But I have come to see them as God moments, calling me to awareness of the depth and richness of the present moment and raising my awareness.

When teaching creative writing, I realized that God has given my student a very creative mind.

Grateful for God’s presence at home where my parents rest well and I experience peace.

Thank you for all your prayers.

    Blessings

Thank you for your prayers for my sister-in-law. The cardioversion was successful and Marcy J. feels better already! Two previous cardioversions, in December, had not worked. I am very grateful for answered prayer.

I have had very noticeable heel pain in my right foot since last spring, which I have stubbornly tried to ignore. I finally saw a podiatrist yesterday and I start PT today. I am supposed to stop yoga and long walks. I request your prayers for healing.

God moments are here in the Upper Room community, and in the warmth of loved ones, and in the beauty of nature and music, and in worship, and…

I pray for you, my UR friends, and your prayer concerns. Thank you, Julie, for faithfully writing out your prayers for us, which I pray with you every day, along with my prayers for you. Marcy, I think of you and keep you in prayer.

I pray for all who are starting a new habit, that they will find support to persist, and if they slip, that they will quickly get back on track.

    Blessings, all.

I think you have to be aware, expectant at all times. As the Spirit guides we will meet these moments We are all different so will have different moments. We are the body of Christ.

Still snowing here, this is day three, supposed to end this morning.

Prayers you are all warm and dry if you live in cold and snowy areas.

It seems I am thrust right back into the hecticness of school schedule/life. At times this is a very good, needed thing. At other times it can be like a giant sink hole, sucking me down and narrowing my vision and I miss God moments and God given opportunities. I just keep moving, completing the next necessary task and the day passes me by. I miss moments with students, meaningful eye contact, an opportunity to share more of myself.
I certainly am aware each morning for getting through another day without a phone call for help from my parents – and pause in gratitude.
Praising God and rejoicing with you, Andrea, for good news for your Marcy. Will be praying for your foot and for physical therapy to have its positive impact.
Wondering if Betsy’s absence means the arrival of the grand baby.
Father, thank You for Your protection, Your Love, Your immense mercy and bountiful grace. Continue to shepherd us.

Yes, Robert, each of us will notice different God moments. Just the fact that I am warm and dry when it is very cold and snowy is a God moment. So many in this world do not have this basic need met, be with them Lord.
I am glad so many use my list of prayers as it is difficult to type. Thank goodness I have remembered each word I write without memory aid, another God moment or gift.
Prayers for Mary, her parents and students. Thank you Lord for her gifts of teaching and compassion.
Prayers for Andrea, may her heel pain resolve quickly. Prayers of thanks for Marcy’s successful heart procedure and improving health.
Prayers for Robert and Erich and Robert’s church’s conundrum with homosexuality. May they show compassion to all, as Jesus did.
Prayers for Connie and her memories.
Prayers for Lou and her worries.
Prayers for Betsy and her soon to be born grandchild.
Prayers for Jill and her family. May they seek the counsel of the doctor so that they may be prepared as new needs arise. May Larry recover quickly.
Prayers for Marcy, may she find God moments with Lucy today.
    Prayers dear UR family
