New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

EACH TIME we step out of our comfort zones and into the messy and sacred world of caring about others, we risk stepping in the confusion of humanity. We may find ourselves asking questions about God and about this world filled with both beauty and affliction. When we share our journeys and questions with one another, our capacities to love and serve with humility, faithfulness, gratitude, and grace grow.

Today’s Question

Pray the prayer of St. Francis today:
Lord make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy Share your thoughts.

Today’s Scripture

And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds.
—Hebrews 10:24, NRSV

This Week: pray to love others as Jesus loves. Submit your prayer to The Upper Room Living Prayer Center or share it in the comment section.

Yes, may we love and serve others with the humility and inclusiveness of the Lord. May we always be instruments of God’s love and forgiveness. May we bear no ill feelings to others.
Where does my relationship with h fit into this, Lord? I know you would have me love and forgive, but are we called to love and forgive those who have done and continue to do us harm? When does it become foolishness?
Prayes for Robert and Erich and Erich’s job and both their health.
Prayers for Mary and her parents, may her parents’ health improve.
Prayers for Connie and her husband, may I learn her attitude of gratefulness.
Prayers for Andrea and Lowell and their improving health.
Prayers for Lou and her children, may her stress be less this year.
Prayers for Betsy and her family. May her brother’s treatment be effective. I saw a news story about an experimental infusion for MS. The man in our area who received it was greatly improved.
Prayers for JIll, Gloria and Larry. May Gloria’s emotional health remain positive despite the passing of her friend.
Prayers dear Marcy. I pray that your pain is less and your breathing is easier today. Tazzie and Chai send love and purrs to you and Lucy.

“Make me an instrument of Your peace.” Gracious God, help me to care for others even when it is difficult, when there is conflict or difference in beliefs.

Thinking of all my dear UR friends today and keeping you in prayer the morning. It is very windy and cold here in Minnesota, and finally, a blanket of new snow covers the ground. I sit at the window and look out over the peaceful scene. At this time of year, with the trees bare of leaves, I can see the pond down the wooded hill behind our house. Our bird feeder stands just at the top of the hill, and we need to fill it.

Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26.

    Blessings, all.
