New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

DEUTERONOMY puts a sobering choice before us: life or death? Moses tells the people of Israel what leads to life and what leads to death. We sense Moses’ urgency when he declares to the Israelites, “You shall not live long” (Deut. 30:18), indicating that their attention is needed now. Moses describes the meaning of life: living in the love of God, obeying God’s commandments, clinging to God, and dwelling in the Promised Land. Today, we find our Promised Land in a relationship of deep friendship with God.

        Mary,
Aren’t we blessed that we had an introduction to the Scriptures when we were young. I’m not sure I valued it at the time but it gave me a great basis from which to grow spiritually. Peace to all who read this today.
