New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

JESUS PROMISES the Holy Spirit to his followers and, in the Greek text of the Gospel of John, describes the Holy Spirit with the word parakletos, which means both “advocate” and “helper” (John 14:16). Jesus tells us this Spirit, “whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you” (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit will point, encourage, and guide us in the way of Jesus and all that he has given us.

The most significant “nudge” I received from the Holy Spirit was to leave the church I had attended for 15+ years…leaving it in March of 2017. I wasn’t particularly dissatisfied with the church. But knew for sure, that Sunday in March would be my last. I didn’t have a plan moving forward and I didn’t have a reason – other than the “nudging”. But – God led me to my current church, much smaller and vibrant with community. And there I have found a welcoming women’s Bible study group, a companion on my PsA journey, guidance towards counseling (by the way – I have “graduated”), and a support group at a partner church which aided me significantly.
The Holy Spirit continues with little “nudges” – to reach out to others, via a phone call or text. I have tried to thank those who were “nudged” and obedient – as texts with verses and prayers came through at just the right time during those difficult months with mom.
Grateful for the beauty of my flower beds, the colors bursting from them.
Roger is pouting, as he has seen the suitcase. I have a former student house-sitting/cat-sitting while I am away. I hope he won’t be as lonely and won’t be super grumpy with her.

Have no recollection of this occurring. So many new concepts to consider this week. I have been stumped most days. But it is good to think of new things and now I will be more discerning in my decisions and feelings and reasoning.
Prayers for Jill, may she be safe as she travels. Prayers for Roger, may he accept his new caregiver. My Tazzie will accept food and affection from anyone but Chai hides.
Prayers for healing and safety for Andrea, Lowell, Connie, Erich and Marcy.
Prayers for Connie and her own flowers, may she be enjoying their vibrant colors.
Prayers for Lou and her daughter, may they enjoy one another.
Prayers for Betsy, may her move be safe.
Prayers for Mary for joy and abundance.
Prayers for Robert and all the many aspects that changing states involves. May he continue to slog through the details and find a new welcoming community of faith and friends.
Prayer, blessings, warm hugs and thank you dear UR family

For many years my husband and I lived in a very small town with a population of 760 people. Now, that’s small. My husband owned a restaurant and I taught school and had some event this particular night. I had left my son with his grandparents while I was gone. On my way to pick up my son, I was firmly nudged to take a longer way. As I turned a corner an employee of the ours leaving the hospital. I stopped and discovered that her ex son-in-law had committed suicide in his truck with his one year old twins with him. I stayed with her for several hours until her husband came home. It was a highly charged emotional time and we made it through those hours together. God put me right where he needed me. Amen

I think I have felt the “nudge”. Sometimes it was stronger than other times.

Missed this yesterday, was on a walk, breakfast with the pastor and church friends, and painting at the new gym.

The tsunami of emails each day is very challenging to deal with.

Thank you Michelle for that witness to God’s nudging. You followed through and made a difference.

The onslaught of emails of a variety of types is persotent.
