New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

IN OUR FAMILY I always asked my mother to tell about when she was young and often drove my grandfather’s car for him. He was a minister of a rural church, and in the afternoons went from house to house visiting the members of his congregation. He did not particularly like to drive a car, so she often acted as his chauffeur. One afternoon she went into a house to visit with him, and when they returned to the car, a cow had stuck her nose in and chewed up part of my grandfather’s Bible. We still have that Bible in our family today, and I tell my children and grandchildren this story.

I am grateful to be home safely, reunited with Roger. The time away was very relaxing and healing. The serenity of the seashore is a welcoming sanctuary. Now my thoughts must turn school-ward.
My god-children are in my thoughts and prayers. My god-daughter transferred to a local Christian school, which began this past week. She is a junior and I am praying this will be a transformative year for her. Her brother had an impactful week at summer camp last month. My cat and house sitter worked at that camp. Her boyfriend’s best friend was my god-son’s counselor – and I am reaching out to him to stay in contact with my god-son. This counselor is at a local college and I am hoping he will mentor him a bit, keeping in contact with texts or emails.
Very much looking forward to returning to church this morning, worship service and cancer support group.
Routine is returning as school begins in a week. A very good thing.

Face Time this morning with my granddaughters, Willa and Oona. They went to the zoo yesterday. Am sure they had a great time, there’s a smaller zoo near them, yesterday it was off to the Bronx Zoo.

Cards and emails with pictures also are good.

Fish in the Bible, Luke 5:1-11, and a fish lunch are the focus of church today.

Prayers for Doris, not sure how things are going there. Prayers for pain relief, help for baby Finn, teachers and students back in school, and God’s peace to everyone.

Making a snack hamper for my nieces and nephew this week. Last week, I had already asked my sister which snacks they like.

    Blessings!

I love to be a Grandma to my grands and those I “adopt”. I try to send a note to them often. I send magazine subscriptions to each so they have their own magazine. Connecting often is a joy to me as I send and I believe to those that receive also….we talk about the magazines when we visit :))
Prayers to all and may this be a wonderful week….blessings.
