Stay Close

Today’s Reflection

IN ORDER TO EXPERIENCE FULLNESS OF JOY, part of our soul reset must include spiritual practices that help us stay close to God and order our lives in such a way that we avoid overcommitment, over-scheduling, and under-praying. Spiritual practices such as prayer, journaling, small groups, confession, and even lament keep us connected to God as we reset and reorder our lives in the path of abundance and joy versus busyness and being overwhelmed. Spiritual practices are so important and vital for our discipleship journey. They are not about being a better church member. They are not about being a perfect leader. They are not about having the appearance of religiosity or holiness. They are about growing in our relationship with God and staying in love with Jesus.

I utilize several items offered by the UR. I receive the sight psalm daily and it shows me that words from the Bible or words of praise are with in the sights we see. I read not only the Reflection but also the Devotional each day. A recent devotional was about praying each time we do repeatedly throughout the day. I have wanted and intended to pray every time I feed my kitties. I will try harder today.
The daily devotional reading today was a passage from Romans regarding how we want to do the right thing but again and again fail to do that and fall into sin instead. Every day I vow to show tolerance to h. Yet every time I must interact with him I fail and react with scorn and impatience. I seek God’s help again today.
I had an interesting morning. I tried to take my shower to find no water. I listen to the radio in the morning and learned a road near my home was closed due to a watermain break (common in our area). The water has come back and I took a shower (after taking a very cold sponge bath earlier – I am still cold despite the Hot shower).
Prayers for healing for Andrea, Connie, Erich and Marcy.
Prayers for Mary to be joy filled.
Prayers for Lou and her children to find happiness.
Prayers for Jill and Larry to find a new normal.
Prayers for Robert to also see scriptures in the nature he sees.
Prayers, blessings, warm hugs and thank you UR family

    Thanks Julie!

Good to hear that your water supply was restored quickly. May you continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

I attend Bible study, prayer meetings, reflect, journal and pray daily, seeking God’s guidance and strength to do what is right and pleasing to God.

    Blessings!

Need to concentrate more on soul reset. I think Christians receive more attention from the devil and as a result there a times when they are tempted more often.

Thankful that my dental and gum procedure this morning went well. Medication for pain and infection are being taken and I go back in two weeks for a checkup. Being able to pay my portion of the bill is a blessing too.

Doris seems be doing ok, she has a brain scan soon. Anneliese a treatment tomorrow, and Meesook has surgery on the 9th. Baby Finn is home, had open heart surgery as three days old, and is on a tight schedule but making progress. Another church member fell and cracked six ribs, but also is making progress to recover. Thankful Dorian has changed course, prayers for the people of the Bahamas. My friend TomE is recovering from gall bladder surgery. Thank You, Lord.

Emails from my daughter are a blessing too.

Only a few days ago we had no hot water too. The propane truck came and we were fine. Glad Julie your hot water has returned. Hope you warm up. Thank you for your prayers for the UR family.

I fast, pray, and meditate on the scriptures at least once and sometimes twice a week. I also journal and testify about the goodness of God to anyone who will listen.
