New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

THE FELT PRESENCE of those who love and nurture us is a manifestation of God’s Holy Spirit, and that presence is always with us. Our sacred memories of loved ones and loved places represent the kingdom of God within us. We can never be apart from it—unless we forget.

Prayer focuses our attention on the presence of God. It is a practice of remembering.

—Tom Camp, Upper Room Disciplines 2019 (Upper Room Books, 2018)

Today’s Question

Who do you remember that represents the kingdom of God around you?  Share your thoughts.

Today’s Scripture

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.”
—Hebrews 12:1 (NRSV)

To put in biblical terms, there have been many long term minor prophets and one major very short term prophet in my spiritual journey thus far. All helped me in one way or another. The major prophet came at an especially tough time.

Thankful for a new month, prayers that each of you are aware of the presence of God and your needs, cares, concerns are fulfilled and that youn are thankful for the blessings of the day.

Bible study this morning, have a blessed day.

Spiritually, perhaps two. But my grandfather quietly displayed deep devotion as a devout Catholic.
Prayers for Robert and his immersion into his new church community which I envy and would like to use as a role model.
Prayers for Andrea, Connie and Marcy, may their physical issues be resolved quickly and may God lessen their pain.
Prayers for April, BJ and Betsy and their families.
Prayers for safe travel for Lou and her middle child as they both travel to visit her youngest daughter.
Prayers for Jill and Larry and her coninued support of his healing.
Prayers for Mary and her family, may they be abundantly rewarded for their selfless acts of caring.
Prayers, blessings, warm hugs and thank you UR family

My thoughts, like Robert’s, immediately went to those who stepped onto my path to companion me through recent difficult times. All most assuredly God sent. Several have been “on my path” for double digit years and I treasure their kinship and influence. Others, more recently, and hopefully we will continue to walk parallel paths, as their impact is not insignificant.
Julie – how I treasure your prayers for dad and I, as we continue on. He desires to have deep, spiritual conversations…which unveil to me that he is not where I assumed he was spiritually. I am encouraged that he is engaging in these, but it is wearying. A good wearying, a healthy wearying. And it seems each time we end up talking about mom and her struggle…stirring up memories which are emotional. Last night was one of these conversations and I had a difficult time falling asleep.
