Today’s Reflection
GOSPEL MEANS “GOOD NEWS.” The Greek word is evangelion. The words evangelist and evangelism derive from this same Greek root. Remember, evangelism is about good news; it should be joyful. …
… Sharing good news is a joyous experience. We need not dread evangelism. Paul offers a joyful witness and believes that whatever the future holds, he will continue to rejoice in witnessing.

I know this is not what they mean, but my good news is that it is my birthday.God gifted me and everyone on earth with life. He gifts us each day. He gifts us creation. He gifted me with a daughter. The good news is that He gifted each and every one of us with His son. The good news is that through His son’s sacrifice for us we are forgiven and given life eternal.
Blessings and prayers dear UR family and warm hugs for each of you
Bless you on your birthday, Julie. May your day be filled with good things.
Happy birthday Julie!
May God’s blessings and favor always be with you!
May we always rejoice in the Lord!
Blessings!
My good news today (and every day) is that Jesus loves me, this I know.
Happy birthday, Julie. Thank you for your gifts to us at Upper Room, like an evangelist gives. I pray that the coming year will bring positive developments to your current circumstances and an excellent resolution.
We have a lot of beautiful new snow here and are expecting more, but first the sun is supposed to come out today. Lowell is out with the snowblower. Thank you, God, for Lowell. In the woods behind our house, the thick network of tree branches is lined with a graceful white coat. It reminds me of lace. I see the tracks of two deer on the ground. Thank you, God, for the beauty of today.
I also pray my thanks for a wonderful physical therapist who is helping me with my back and foot.
I pray that Marcy’s appointments are helping her. Prayers for all very dear UR friends and those for whom you pray. You are in my heart. May all be safe in this erratic winter weather.
Thankful Erich’s package yesterday and that the glitch with his paycheck is getting attention. Heard from Anneliese, no progress on the transportation, but she was able to slowly get around. Made progress packing up trains, helped Erich make tonight’s supper, income tax prep coming along. Am able to read the reflection and share with you. Thank You, Lord.
Happy birthday Julie, Happy Lunar New Year Mary, thankful Jesus is with us always, and thankful for good news about Andrea and Lowell’s recovery.
Fresh snow is always beautiful. Have deer tracks here too.
Had Chinese food yesterday and was able to wish those who prepared it Happy New Year! Received Happy New Year greetings from my former student, we know each other from Seoul Foreign School 45 years ago. Have met recently and hope to meet again this month.
Prayers for Marcy’s appointments, Gloria, and all in need of God’s help.
Hello dear friends. Checking in from the hospital – mom has been admitted and the cancer has spread to lots of places and it is time for palliative care. There is a complication with her kidney which we are waiting to hear if the procedure is necessary at this time, and if she could handle it physically.
My sister is en-route on a plane from Florida and should be here at the hospital in a few hours. We, as a family, will meet with the hospice/palliative care team later today or tomorrow – at least that is what we have been told. Hospital time is a strange thing…dragging and dragging. Dad is crushed by this news and mom is resigned. The oncologist was wonderful and I think it helped mom a touch.
Julie – happy birthday to you.
Guess I am not the bearer of good news. But we are all sustained by The Good News. Father, thank You for changing our lives.
My prayers for you and your mother, father and sister Jill- God grant you peace and strength.
Jill, I – and I am sure everyone here – surround you, your mother and father, and your sister with our prayers, today and each day ahead. May God guide the doctors, nurses, and all who care for Gloria. I pray for her to be free of pain, and I pray for comfort for your father, you, and your sister. God bless you and your family.
Prayers on the way, Jill.
Oh Jill, such unsettling news, but thank you for sharing. Prayers rising for all. I am closing my eyes and picturing you and your family with love even though we can’t look face to face. Seek out the hospital chapel if possible. I worked at a hospital and its chapel was such a peaceful place.
Yes -the Good News is Jesus loves you and me. He is always here for us and with us every step of the way.
